Little India.
Big community from Punjab and Gujarat, migrating to different countries around the world for many decades.Patels are good in business and Sikhs from Punjab are good for every thing. Driving taxies to restaurant business to gas stations, stores and many more. I met two brothers in USA; one of them was learning music from me. One day he started telling story about him. He left the country in1984 (the riots) for better life, or it is culture in Punjab, from each home, one person is abroad. When he got into USA, he was very young and not that well educated. He started with small jobs like driving, storekeeper and different jobs. He worked very hard for ten years for 10 to 14 hours a day, saved some good money to start his own business. It is good part of America, you work hard and you get what ever you want. No pain, no gain. So he bought the gas station cum franchise store by name 7/11{seven eleven).one after one he started expanding his business. Now he has eight stores all together. That is how people from Punjab and Gujarat you find all over the world. One person will go ahead and his whole family and relatives will fallow him. Patel and motel is very famous combination there, means he has motel. From other part of India, this kind of culture is not there. They do not know where to go and what to do and for what. Only qualified people from other states are migrating like doctors, they were in demand for while. The recent trend is in IT industry, many young software professionals going there on work visa.
It is very easy to find Gurudawras in every big city. Every Saturday, sunday great gathering, prayers and langar (maha Prasad).In 1995 my first visit to USA.That time going abroad is little valuable but not any more. India was not in focus that time. That was surprise for me there was not a single word about India in the media. I use to check Network Times, Washington Post or LA Times. But after the nuclear test of Pokharan,there was little buzz about India, since then it has been changed a lot, now it is future super power, thank God finally, the great nation of ancient time is getting back on the track. However, all NRI fellow Indians have contributed a lot to Indian economy sending there earning back home.
On the world map every big city has a China Town, chinese community live there together with there culture, food, businesses.The same thing with Indians, it is little India away from India.
